Sharks in the news

The fall has been busy, as we start cataloguing our 2013 basking shark photos and updating our shark sighting database. This means that there is going to be lots of new and interesting things for us to talk about over the next few months, so stay tuned.

While we have been glued to our laptops, sharks have certainly been making the news in Newfoundland. In case you missed these stories, here’s quick summary:

1) A Greenland Shark that bit off more than it could chew was rescued by two men off the coast of Newfoundland:

Great white shark

2) Lydia, a 4.3 metre-long great white shark that was tagged off the coast of Florida, was recently tracked all the way to Placentia Bay, Newfoundland!
