Basking Bonanza

It’s the summer of basking sharks!

We’ve been getting several sightings and photographs of basking sharks from Cape Cod, the Scotian Shelf and the Bay of Fundy so far this year.

Mark Brodeur has seen two basking sharks off Cape Cod this spring. He estimated the first one he saw was about 20 feet and it swam right under the boat he was on. This was just 4 miles off Cape Cod Canal, Bay side. Check out his awesome photos below! He also saw a smaller one the first or second week of June, closer to Cape Ann (about 20 miles off).
